How big should a solar generator be?

Unless the home is completely off-grid, the size of a solar generator is usually determined by the size of the roof and also by economics.

In general, a home with 500 square feet of "southward" tilt roof can tap about 5,000 watts (5 KW) of electrical power from the sun.
